In the past few years, students from the School of Journalism and Mass Communication (SJMC) have landed competitive internships at some of the largest, most prestigious newspapers and corporations: The New York Times, The Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Miami Herald, The Boston Globe, Disney, Hallmark, Anheuser-Busch, CBS Evening News with Dan Rather, Univision, Telemundo, ESPN, National Public Radio, Sports Illustrated, AOL-Latin America, and the Associated Press. Many of these interns were later hired as full-time reporters—the best possible endorsement of their professional abilities.

At least two dozen SJMC journalism-track graduates are working at some of the nation’s top 10 newspapers and even more are working for national or regional television news outlets. Graduates of our programs in journalism and in television are now working for The Miami Herald, The Boston Globe, the L.A. Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Miami-area television stations affiliated with ABC, NBC, CBS, and Fox; for the Spanish-language networks, Telemundo and Univision; and for Time-Warner and CNN. Graduates of our advertising and public relations programs now work for Young & Rubicam in New York, Daily & Associates in Los Angeles, Novartis, Kraft Foods, Lucent Technology, NBC 6, NBA Latin America, Telenoticias, MTV, ESPN, and almost every advertising agency and public relations firm in Miami. The SJMC is one of only 25% of all communication schools in the country fully accredited by ACEJMC.
