John Virtue holds a BJ from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada. For over 20 years he was a reporter, bureau manager and regional executive in Latin America for United Press International. He was later executive editor for the daily newspaper El Mundo in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He is currently director of the International Media Center, which has trained more than 8,000 mid-career journalists in Latin America. His teaching specialty is ethics, workshops for which he has delivered in 16 Latin American countries. He is the author of four books: Leonard and Reva Brooks, a biography; South of the Color Barrier; Model American Abroad and Fred Taylor, a biography.
