Things You Should do to Graduate on Time!

  • Become Fully admitted into our upper division programs as quickly as possible.
  • Get advised early every semester.
  • Go over your initial audit carefully with an advisor.
  • Make sure all of your lower division requirements are satisfied.
  • Take MMC 3003 (SJMC Orientation) during your first semester.
  • Become familiar with the SASS report.
  • Satisfy your CLAST requirement as quickly as possible.
  • Keep a constant track of your total credit counts: 50 (upper division), 65 (liberal arts), 80 (outside journalism) and 120 (total accepted university credits).
  • Double check your overall (2.0), SJMC (2.75) and outside Grade Point Averages (2.75) to be certain that you have met our exit requirements for graduation.
  • Apply early for graduation, register for all remaining classes and turn in a copy of your graduation application to student services two weeks before your graduating term begins. Every semester we double check all students who submit an early application for graduation to make sure they are in the appropriate classes. Check deadlines posted in our office.
