Within the last few years faculty members have held local and national leadership positions with major professional organizations, the Public Relations Student Society of America and Association for Women in Communication.

They have also published on such topics as creativity, crisis management, the importance of mutual understanding and cooperation between professional practitioners and the academy, and video news releases. In addition, some have won Silver Anvils. Recent FIU graduates hold positions at Univision, NBC 4, Sony, NBA Latin America, Ryder Corporation, and at almost every non-profit agency and public relations firm in Miami.
