Student Resource Center

The Resource Center, located in the same building as the School of Journalism & Mass Communication (Academic II Rm. 129), houses professional and academic journals, over 100 different publications in the field of communications, with current subscriptions to the major professional and academic journals in the field. In addition, there are over 600 books, directories and special reports in communications.

The Resource Center also has 17 high speed PC's with 17" monitors providing students and faculty with access to all the databases available through the University Library Network through a fast speed fiber-optic connection, making access to the Internet quite fast and reliable.

Among the various electronic resources, students have access to major news sources through Lexis-Nexis full text resources, the Miami Herald, Newsbank File, Newsbank Global, the New York Times, etc. To aid students with school projects, the PC's are also loaded with Microsoft Office Suite 2000 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access), Adobe In-Design, QuarkXpress and SPSS (statistics program). Lastly, the Center is under the direction of a full time Reference Librarian and thus students and faculty benefit from this type of professional assistance.
