          Yolanne Almanzar, participating in the 2008 New York Times Student Journalism Institute at the University of Arizona, Tucson, got her story "Even in Exile, a Mobster Never Forsook His Code" published in the New York Times. Read it here.

          SJMC student Mirsad Krijestorac won second place prize in the 2007 Transatlantic Essay Contest. Brooke R. Heaton, Assistant Director of the Office of Education and the Successor Generations for the Atlantic Council of the United States (www.acus.org) wrote, "We found your essay insightful and with an interesting perspective on the transatlantic relationship, particularly the historic and cultural dimensions."
