The School of Journalism and Mass Communication
(SJMC) is located on FlU’s Biscayne Bay Campus.
Situated on 200 acres on Biscayne Bay in North Miami
—and encompassing a natural mangrove preserve
—the Biscayne Bay Campus is a beautiful setting
for collegiate life. The school’s learning facilities
include an on-campus television studio, a converged
newsroom, three computer labs, and a fully equipped
graphics and design lab. Students also have access to
an extensive resource center housing professional and
academic journals, more than 50 publications in the
field of communications, and more than 600 books, directories,
and special reports in the profession as well as ongoing
subscriptions to major newspapers. The center also provides
electronic resources, from The Miami Herald databases
to an on-line library catalog, and has fiber-optic connections
to the World Wide Web. Equally important, our programs
bring you together with other bright, talented, hard-working
students.
We make it a point to shape the learning
community along the lines of the larger society and
actively recruit minority students and faculty members.
With students from all 50 states and more than 130 countries,
FlU ranks in the top one percent of all U.S. universities
in campus diversity. The enrollment in the School of
Journalism and Mass Communication parallels that of
the university as a whole. The SJMC is one of only 25%
of all communication schools in the country fully accredited
by ACEJMC. |
